Naturopathic physicians are a hidden gem in the medical world, yet many people are unfamiliar with this type of doctor. In this video, Dr. Andrew Rubman, naturopathic physician and author of Bottom Line’s “Nature Doc’s Patient Diary” blog, explains naturopathy. Naturopaths work with their patients to maintain optimal health and prevent disease before it takes root. As the name implies, naturopaths focus on natural interventions such as diet, supplements, botanicals and also traditional medications. They are trained with clinical supervision to ensure that they have a mastery of these healing arts. Finally, Dr. Rubman explains how people can find a properly licensed naturopath as well as what to look for when searching for this type of doctor. In August of 1986 I graduated with a Doctorate degree in Naturopathic medicine. In the beginning of my practice I would teach my patients the fundamental principle of Naturopathic medicine; that the human body has the inborn ability to self-cleanse, self-repair, and self-heal when given the opportunity. The local medical doctors laugh and told me I was stupid and did not know what I was saying. Now, 34 years later thanks to autophagy I have been vindicated.
