My German Shepherd has respiratory fibrosis. He gets something like an asthma pump, through a mask, twice daily. On a bad day I place three drops of peppermint essential oil with some water in a burner. It really helps him a lot.

Can i diffuse with the brand name "now essential oil 100% pure lavender"??? Its extraction method is steam distilled from fresh flowering tops. I just want to make sure it’ll be safe to diffuse with because I don’t want to make my boxer sick or anything.

I am a Vet Assistant and trying to broaden in learning of Essential Oils for some clients. I have one question: I was told in school Lavender and certain oils are bad and even deadly for cats. Is this 100% true in small amounts? Did they just mean the plant or fumes?

Edit: Here is what I was taught. Cats are sensitive to essential oils due to their heightened sense of smell and delicate skin. They are prone to toxic build-up for they can’t efficiently metabolize the compounds in essential oils.

Note: I have also physically seen a feline with toxic build-up due to a candle. It was peppermint which is toxic too.
