Essential Oil Safety (and Are Essential Oil Diffusers Safe?): http://bit.ly/2ShOEKX

Essential oils have been shown in studies to have very few negative side effects or risks when they are used as directed. But given how popular essential oils have become in recent years, and how many different brands of oils are now available, it’s not surprising that there’s some growing concerns regarding essential oil safety.

On this episode of Ancient Medicine Today, I’m talking about the top 10 mistakes people make with essential oils as well as internal use, topical use, and aromatic use.

I put a very small amount of grapefruit and sweet orange oil in a natural lip balm I was making just to flavour it a little. Can I not wear this outside? (I only put a few drops of each between 3 tubes)

Had a horrible reaction to Frankincense = nerves felt like they were on fire. Applied before bedtime on my feet. Won’t touch it again!

  14. Jane Doe 138 on April 17, 2019 at 7:32 pm

I nearly killed myself with a frankincense overdose last night ~ I put some granules in my burner, rubbed some of my oil on the soles of my feet, some on my abdomen and a few drops on the roof of my mouth, half an hour later I went to the bathroom and when I came back to bed I did the whole process over again, and felt terrible when I woke up this morning.
Lesson learned and more respect given..

I purchased the oils you suggested for first aid for cuts and to use to heal scars. I’m trying to determine how to use them by watching this video. I did not get the onion extract however. Is it crucial to have onion extract for healing scars. Do any of the oils you suggested for first aid and to heal scars require a carrier oil? Thank you.

I only use them to scent a room. Never internally or on pets. Glad I don’t care for the bad ones. Pine gave me an odd headache I think. Some claim you can cook with them. Ugh. I’ll use the real thing.

Being a certified aromatherapist, I advice/inform my clients on all the issues mentioned in the video as well. Glad to see that someone is giving such excellent information to those who are not trained or educated on essential oils, since they are not so “innocent”, “harmless” or “safe” as everyone thinks they are!! Yes,they are very interesting and could help people in several ailments, but…Many of those have serious contradictions and should be used in low quantities or not at all! Regarding pregnancy: it is adviced during the first trimester that pregnant women should avoid using ANY essential oil at all. After the first trimester only two or three essential oils could be used, and they should definitely be diluted in a carrier oil. Kudos for this video!!
