Surprised and very disappointed with some of the advice. They previously recommended the book How Not to Die which I agree with. As a whole food plant based physician who recommends the same to all of my patients and colleagues, I see whole food plant based nutrition as the foundation of health. It is just my opinion but they should distill the information from this (and other books) and tell us what they think is relevant and disregard what is obviously false. They do mention that they disagree with some stuff, for example, their experience with free range chicken, but for me, it does not go far enough. People come here for easy quick answers. Don’t just tell people what is in the book when it is obviously wrong. People just get confused. Just my opinion of course. Still love their advice on physical therapies.

In addition to absorbing organic chemicals like PCBs, dioxins, DDT, etc., large tuna e.g. Albacore is a problem because they eat other fish, so the chemicals biomagnify.

Dr Martha Clare Morris sadly died of cancer on February 15. Her research was very important and I hope it continues, as there is much left to do with regard to this terrible terrible disease that is dementia.

I’m 35, I used to have a vivid photogenic memory, but within the last 4 years my memory has regressed severely it is at a point now that I will go shopping for the same things a few times a few because I forgot that I did it already, I can do something and within 5 minutes have already forgotten, I have lost long term memory as well, like names of my best friends growing up, and even forgetting how to spell a lot of words (which I used to excel at) I say things and forget them, I don’t even remember many things I did as a child, or even a few years ago. Do you know what could be going on with me?

Take a look at the people of india whom have the lowest number of these cases in the entire world. From what ive noticed a lot of their foods havecurry and a bunch of spices and other ingredients that are deflammatory foods. Tomatoes, etc. So they are clearly onto something. Deflammatory foods reduce inflammation even in the brain. This is what needs to be looked at more.
I just lost memory of 3 days. I didn’t even realize that I lost memory until I looked at the date on my phone saying the date is 5/4 even though I remember seeing the date as 5/1 yesterday. Anyone else have similar experience?

Spinach and curly kale (flat leaf is okay) is very high in oxalates. Oxalates are a toxin for humans that is found in all human tissue including the brain. It is a myth they are health foods. Somebody didn’t do their research.
The problem with potatoes is they now make 2 toxins against humans. Red peeled potatoes are ok.

A ketogenic diet helps as does high doses of fish oil. I went from not being able to walk or talk after a brain aneurysm rupture to working full time now.

Here is a summary:
1) Proper sleep (as outlined in Matthew Walkers book Why We Sleep)
2) Consistent exercise, preferably outside in nature
3) Learn to relax eg. Meditation, learning how to breath (slow relaxed)
4) Improve your food and diet with dark leafy greens (spinach, kale etc) preferably organic, broccoli. Also, nutrient dense whole grains,
Quinoa, steel cut organic oatmeal, berries (blueberries and blackberries especially).
5) Oily fish at least once a week. Smaller fish are better (sardines are better than tuna). Organic, free range poultry (NOT factory farmed)
6) Avoid processed sugary foods as much as possible.
7) One glass of wine a day is OK

You should also check out the Neurologists Dr. Dean & Ayesha Sherzai who are involved with studying lifestyle modifications for preventing Alzheimer’s Disease. By the way a better cleaner source of Omega-3 is ground flaxseed as well as algae based omega-3 supplements. The fish actually get their omega-3 from eating algae.
I’m 18 and lately I’ve had really bad headaches all day every day and the top of my head feels like it’s pulling. Which makes since ever since this covid i havent really gone outside that much. My sleep schedule is extremely messed up, like I don’t go to sleep untill 7am now and run off of 4-7 hours of sleep. I forget alooooot of stuff and common since stuff too. Cant register things or break things down well in my brain. I used to think it was because I used to smoke alot of marjuanna but now I think it’s just my bad every day habits since this covid started
Good list but we don’t need fish or chicken. Not true at all. It’s not sustainable, not necessary, terrible for the environment, and not ethical.
i agree everything with everything except fish. Fish doesn’t provide health benefits: only saturated fat/cholesterol. Fish tends to be farmed too anyway so it’s not “free range/natural.” Also wine isn’t healthy. Doesn’t make sense because wine is alcohol. Alcohol is a literally a poison(carcinogen)
