The Urban Green

Communities around the world are currently faced with a number of large scale environmental challenges, including dangerous, irreversible climate change. Many of these challenges stem from cities and our resource intensive urban lifestyles.
Fortunately, an array of concrete solutions to these challenges are already being developed and implemented in cities around the globe!
So we set off on an inspirational journey to explore the most innovative ideas, technologies and initiatives being used by cities today as they strive to create more livable and sustainable cities. We sought out leading cities that would offer a source of inspiration and with the potential to stimulate wide scale change which sets us on the path towards a one-planet future where humans live in harmony with nature.

Roads? there is no roads. High streets? just eat with amazon delivery..!!! When you step outside you’re home it will be nothing but green trees and flying drones that we will take off from our industrial solar panelled roofs with wind farms and electric trams. That will power us from trade to natured free..!!!

WWF is involved in human rights violation and expropriation of land in Africa for "conservation" purposes. Ergo they are capitalising over nature, expropriating land from those who were born in it. Time to wake up people.

How do u get any of it when you governemnt is corrupt and only serves itself … not bothered about citizens welfare or climate change… How a bunch of normal citizens defeat politics and get on with impo issues like nature climate change…. including people awareness….

I agree with the green roof, but they dont discuss what powers the electric vehicles. You would have to burn more coal to power all those vehicles, I also dont agree with forcing people to buy an electric car under a quota.

Great video! I’m very happy various places around the world is getting on board with sustainability….now if each citizen does his or her part we can be sustainable a lot faster, even if it’s capturing the cold water runoff from our shower as it gets warm and using it to water the plants in the garden.

  15. Liquid Vicky on December 8, 2020 at 10:21 pm

I think use of cars / vehicles of all types must be minimised. Electric is kind of alternative, but still is noisy and needs a place which is better be for tree.

The first part of the documentary is biased. Electric vehicles are not the "solution", the way EV were promoted seemed so pushy. They should rather focus on public and active transportation like they are doing in Seoul.

  25. moosefactory133 on December 8, 2020 at 10:27 pm

I am kind of surprised the role that photovoltaic electricity is playing in Vancover’s green initiative. I would think a city like Phoenix Arizona would be a more likely place.

A green earth is a high temp, high CO2 earth. But getting more locally generated renewable energy is a good thing.

I always felt uncomfortable about mission statements. The real honest mission statement of all companies is to make the most ROI, money for investors/owners; without breaking the law. That’s all. Smart money follows the greedy. The Western baby boomer generation will be remembered as greedy, short sighted and indulgent.

  38. Jerome Claessen on December 8, 2020 at 10:47 pm

Global warming is a myth. Weather is being manipulated. Check out project HAARP f.e.
That saying, we should go more green nevertheless.

Most people are not aware of the fact that it’s just as important to reduce the energy consumption. For an example, it’s necessary to reduce the energy consumption in buildings, by making them more energy efficient, so the energy demand is less.

  43. Rene Smit on December 8, 2020 at 10:55 pm

Solar panels and windmills can NOT provide the power required in winter.
Go and have a look for youself. https://www.sma.de/en/company/pv-electricity-produced-in-germany.html
Day after day they are lucky to get 15% return on their invested instillation.
There is only one energy source that will replace coal and oil, which the Greenies don’t like because it’s current instillations are based on 1960 technology.

only urban-hubs like Vancouver, Toronto, Paris or Berlin can afford to be "green". Locals on the countryside though can’t afford environmental-sustainable policies
