In this video, I am talking about the reasons why I personally decided to go into naturopathic medicine instead of conventional medicine in case anyone is interested or trying to decide what field of medicine to get into!

SPECIAL NOTE: As I said in the video, the purpose of this is not speak negatively or bash any other fields of medicine or other healthcare providers, but solely to share my person experience in case it helps anyone who may be looking into naturopathic medicine as a career.

Hey Sienna! 🙂 Great video. I just recently discovered your channel, and this video was definitely helpful for me, as I’m interested in healthcare and I get really excited about naturopathic/functional medicine.
I totally agree with your comment that the best thing for patients is for all of the healthcare practitioners to work together! MDs & NDs both have unique skill sets to offer. Though something that I see online, and even within my family and social circles is, lots of skepticism about anything that isn’t conventional medicine. There are even claims that naturopathic medicine and the like are “quackery”, and just in general I feel like the ND field is sadly inherently less respected (and of course less well-known) than MD. I truly believe that it’s just because people aren’t funny educated about the field, but the problem is some people are unwilling to be open-minded about “alternative medicine” right from the start.
I am wondering if you have encountered any experiences with this “divide”? Is this something that concerns you, or in general, what have you found is the relationship between conventional & naturopathic medicine? A video about this would be great if you have a lot of thoughts on it, but either way I am just curious to know your perspective as someone who is actually pursuing this!

Hey, I enjoyed this video! I’m applying to naturopathic medical school and was wondering how you went about choosing the school that you attend?

Hi, I’m new to your channel. Were you studying conventional medicine then you changed to naturopathy medicine? I’m interested in medicine but we don’t have this naturopathic medicine where I am. We have naturopathy degree which is 3 years but that’s about it. How long is you naturopathic medicine?

Thank you so much for this video! It’s super super helpful! This helped solidify my decision to become a Naturopathic Physician. I love what you said about being able to open your own practice and also being able to specialize. The specialization part was really great to hear because I’m mainly focused/interested in using diet/nutrition to prevent and cure disease, so I would be able to sort of specialize in something like that? More specifically, right now I’m especially interested in the gut-brain connection and using nutrition and etc. to balance the gut bacteria. I’m not sure how sold I am on things like homeopathy or hydrotherapy or botanical medicine, although I presume I’ll be convinced after taking classes and seeing results, but yeah, again, I’m just wondering if I’ll be able to specialize more in nutrition like you mentioned? Thanks!

P.S. I also love how you mentioned that the outlook for NDs is bright because the world is sort of "waking up" and understanding that there is a mind-body connection and ppl. are more focused on organic etc. all that type of stuff, like you mentioned.
