I can appreciate your purism for health, but you have to remember, life is to enjoy. And not to say we NEED coffee or any drug in order to enjoy life, but they can certainly add a satisfying quality if done in moderation. And I think, as you point out, this is where most people get in trouble. It’s our responsibility to determine how much is "too much". I, for example, love Tea. But I know, like coffee, if I drink too much, I crash, probably for the reasons you’ve outlined here. I also love alcohol, particularly beer. But I also know if I consume too much, it has a negative effect. The compromise is moderation. If you lightly season your food, it can result in an awesome dish, yet if overdone, it kills it.
You love to run. I get the sense it gives you a high. Yet, many believe too much running is hard on the body. But you continue to run. Why? Because you enjoy it and do it in moderation (I assume). We’re all hard wired to enjoy different types of experiences. It’s not black and white. So I say, relax and enjoy what brings you happiness (with care).

I don’t really drink coffee. If I catch up with friends for brunch I might grab one cup every now and then. But I will never be like “oh it’s the first thing I reach in the morning” and I really don’t get when people say they can’t live without it. I mean coffee is not that tasty at all compared to many other drinks.

I really enjoy drinking black coffee with a little bit of stevia to sweeten it. I find that it aids in digestion and it always stimulates a movement or 2 or more, It also gives me great energy before my morning workout.. I like it 🙂

I do drink a cup every day, but I think I’ll try giving it a break for a while.

  9. Julie Oxbøll on April 15, 2021 at 1:55 am

I’ve liked the taste of coffee since I was very young. Now I drink 1-2 cups of coffee/cold brew almost every day, but I can go days without it too. I sleep 7-8 hours every day, which is the perfect amount of sleep for me, even without coffee i feel energized. Coffee just gives me that small extra boost 🙂

"I can’t get going until I have my cup of coffee" "I need my coffee first" words of an addict. Imagine someone saying "I’m no good until I smoke a joint" "I can’t get going until I snort a line of cocaine" "I can’t function unless I take my pill"

I usually drink decaf coffee because I love the taste of coffee and I’m sensitive to caffeine. I know it’s acidic and bad for my stomach, but I guess you could say I’m addicted to the taste lol. I try to only drink it on special occasion.

Sugar in fruits does the same thing as coffee … don’t pick on coffee … its only juice from the *coffee bean* — and its a tradition all over the world …. I have it a few days a week …and if I don’t it doesn’t matter …

  19. Ron on April 15, 2021 at 2:04 am

Coffee is disgusting and never liked it. It is very bitter so you need a lot of sugar and milk to make it drinkable. But it is also very concentrated and it leaves you with a horrible after taste. Never liked it. Lucky me because it is very toxic for the body especially the adrenal glands. it is very exhausting for the adrenal glands because coffee promotes stress hormones like cortisol and adrenalin. Btw, they found in most coffee asbestos because the conveyor belt is made from it in countries like Africa for example. Unfortunately the whole world is drinking this shit.

  20. Lalo C on April 15, 2021 at 2:05 am

I really enjoy the taste of coffee, but I want to avoid the caffeine. Is decaf coffee a good alternative, or does it have negative effects as well?

Also, I fast daily 18-24 hrs drinking plenty of water 2Liters a day, eating a variety of plant based foods including beans in my big salad every day with lots of variety and some good fats in moderation as well as a flax oil supplement and a multi vitamin.

    tea, loose one. sort
    dragon well
    jasmine tea
    sencha
    matcha
    pu ehr
    gun powder
    cyelin tea
    darjeeling
    so on.

correctly done. couple of teapots, if you don’t have irritated bowl and colon, those make miracles with you. they are clean your body, and have a lot of health benefits such as killing pathogens, antioxidation, etc.

tea is most common rejuvenating and curing herb used on the planet and it has reason to be that way. like everything can be misused and can be harmful to body. meditation during tea drinking period is very potent and meditation itself brings another deep relax state for body. tea should be used correctly and need to be high quality, stored in fridge in containers which do not allow air to come in because tea oxidize and losing its properties, some gaining like pu ehr is tea which mature over time and became better, but usually it is not a case and forget tea bags sort of tea which are like when you sweep bottom of the truck after you delivery proper one those are worst.

  32. E-Z On Raw on April 15, 2021 at 2:13 am

I don’t eat high carb anymore. I don’t label my diet as anything but whole plant based foods. I feel great, and I don’t worry about hitting a macro nutrient ratio either. I have eaten that way, all fruit, or raw till 4, etc but I find that eating a variety of foods is important with good fats in moderation. This is what really works for me now.. Cheers : )

The you for being a constant advocate for the true sweeter things in life. Whenever I’m feeling shitty about something, your wisdom and self tested advice always reminds me of what it is to to be happy and human and that I don’t need to do what everybody else does in order to be successful.

After I started drinking yerba mate, coffee just seems really harsh. It doesn’t the nutrients and that sense of repleneshment I get from mate, either. I wouldn’t really recommend coffee to someone who hasn’t had it, but I would definitely recommend yerba mate. It’s probably the most important factor that contributed to my improvement in health over the past year. Mate contains caffeine and other xanthines, so it is a stimulant, but the effects are completely different from coffee, in my opinion. It has even helped me overcome, or at least greatly reduce, many other unhealthy behaviors. It simply replaced them with something more enjoyable.

I was thinking about this today. I see these studies about green tea being so good for you, but I’ve tried to drink it and I hate the feeling of caffeine! I know it’s a net positive, maybe I’ll live longer like the studies say if I drink green tea… but I just hate how it affects my consciousness! I can’t think as clearly and that bothers me. Sure I can bang out certain types of work but no doubt caffeine makes it harder for me to solve complex logical problems.
