WORLD'S FASTEST ONBOARD: SSC Tuatara hits crazy 331mph top speed! | Top Gear

Top Gear can exclusively reveal that Shelby SuperCars (SSC) North America has set a new production car top speed record, hitting a VMAX of 331mph and setting a two-way average of 316.11mph on a seven-mile stretch of closed road just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Climb on board for the outrageous 0-331mph run as Top Gear is granted exclusive footage from the guys that are making the full feature-length documentary of this epic endeavour, landing later in the year. Actual telemetry is what truly matters not video analysis.

Dewetron, a GPS data analysis company with a fair bit of experience in validating top speed record runs, has gone over the SSC Tuatara’s data and claims its 316.11-mph record run is indeed valid. The company says its equipment has been used to confirm four out of the five previous record runs before the Tuatara’s, including for the Ultimate Aero.

Gotta be honest not sure where Shmee got the footage where you could actually decerne the lines in the road because going through it on here you can hardly tell when it enters a new line to do the math, and considering this is a 24 fps video it won’t be very accurate either. you’re missing massive chunks of time.

Unless it’d already been in 2nd gear from the start it was not even in 7th before reaching 331mph. Yup. Red flag. Car can’t reach 331 with 6 gears. :S

  18. Grr Kaa on October 28, 2020 at 7:36 am

I think it’s time to report it to youtube as fake.

  19. TylerKirkFilms on October 28, 2020 at 7:38 am

If you calculate the double pole telephone poles during the fastest part of his run he passes 6 sets of double poles in 8:75 seconds. On google earth the distance between the first set of poles and the 6th set of double poles it is exactly 2871.24 feet. If he traveled 2871.24 feet in 8.75 seconds he was only doing 223.73 miles per hour at the fastest point. This is a scam and is unofficial. There are many other inconsistencies as well.

  20. little smin on October 28, 2020 at 7:38 am

you dont need math to see that it’s fake. At 0:19 keep an eye at the gauge and compare it to the graphic. You can clearly see the graphic hits 100 mph first

If you take the fact that most highways have a lane marking spacing of 40ft from the start of one marking to the next, they are off by quite a bit… Taking a section of video where the speed is purported to be 268 MPH, using 30 fps (the listed fps for the video), the actual speed is closer to 205 MPH. Surprised nobody has used this yet. Edit: Top speed by this method is 223 MPH.

  40. numbereightyseven on October 28, 2020 at 8:09 am

"Tuatara" are reptiles endemic to New Zealand. They could probably reach 4 or 5 miles per hour.
